El-Amin Fish House baits TRP Group to go 3-0

BY MIKE PEDEN

Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League action wrapped up for the week Tuesday night due to the holiday week.

El-Amin Fish House and the Sabes-TRP Group didn't get the memo.

Despite blowing a 13-0 run early in the first quarter, the team headed by former Minneapolis North and UConn standout Khalid El-Amin pulled through in the end to win 93-91 in front of a big crowd at the St. Paul Salvation Army gym.

The win brought the Fish House to 3-0 for the season. Sabes-TRP fell to 1-2.

The Fish House would nearly get fried again in the fourth quarter. Former Gopher Dan Coleman struggled after scoring eight points in the first, going scoreless for the next two quarters. Sabes-TRP took the lead midway through the fourth and appeared to have the win sealed by the three-minute mark. No one on the Fish House scored above 20 points for the game.

However, El-Amin's team bit back in the final minutes to ensure their perfect start would not go untarnished.

Golden Gopher Paul Carter only scored 14 points, but two came on a key dunk to tie the game at 91 with 41.8 seconds left. Former Gopher and future Colorado State player Travis Busch finished off Sabes-TRP, sinking both his free throws on a shooting foul with 20.8 seconds in the fourth.

Bruce Price added 16 points for the Fish House.

Rich Melzer led all players with 19 points in the Sabes-TRP loss. Drake standout Ken Maxey scored 17 points.

The Fish House's next game is next Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. against A & A Millwork. Sabes-TRP hits the floor Monday at 8:45 p.m. with B2X.
