Current Golden Gopher women’s basketball players and St. Paul natives Ashley Ellis-Milan and Kiara Buford will take part in the 2009 Rondo Days Festival in St. Paul, this Saturday, July 18. The Rondo Days Festival is an annual celebration to remember the African-American neighborhood of Rondo which was split by the construction of Interstate 94 in the mid 1960s.
Ellis-Milan and Buford will be joined by former Golden Gopher standout Linda Roberts, who also hails from St. Paul. The trio all graduated from St. Paul Central High School. Minnesota head coach Pam Borton will also be in attendance.
The Gopher contingent will participate in the Rondo Days parade, which runs from the St. Peter Claver Catholic Church to the Martin Luther King Center. Watch for the Gopher group to be riding in a custom Zamboni.
Following the parade, the Gophers will appear at the Fast Break Club booth at the Martin Luther King Center.
