Experience over Youth, Lynx embarrassed by Silver Stars

The Minnesota Lynx started the same line up since the injury to Seimone Augustus with lots of success. But last night the Lynx seemed to look like a team who had never once played together on the same floor. They began the game on a 13-4 run forcing San Antonio to call a timeout early at the 5:33 mark. With a very balanced attack lynx seemed to be clicking on all cylinders. Lynx were able to run on the silver stars due to their lack of accuracy on both ends of the floor.

Silver stars came out of the timeout with lots more energy and started to turn the table by creating an 8-2 run of there own. Candice Wiggins was a key in the run but after she picked up 2 early fouls at 1:37 left in the first quarter Coach Jennifer Gillom was forced to take her out. Silver Stars took the lead by a hot shooting hand of Australian National Team player Belinda Snell who managed to score to big 3 pointers. Lynx could not find the same chemistry that they opened the game with while San Antonio used there veteran leadership to force Lynx against the wall. Coach Gillom who was forced to use her whole bench in the first half seemed to be trying to find anything that would work to get the young team back on track.

The rookie Renee Montgomery came in off the bench in the second half to create the energy that the team so desperately needed but it seemed as though the lynx's couldn't get past all of the unforced turnovers that translated into fast breaks and easy buckets for the silver stars. Lynx really had no answer for the Becky Hammon. Hammom was able to breakdown Minnesota's defense from the outside as well as the inside. The lynx would always get going early in each quarter but managed to fall short at the end of them. San Antonio managed to run up the score to about 18 points with 6:10 left in the 4th quarter. Which was all that was needed to take the life out of the building and the lynx huddle. Leaving the young team to wonder what exactly happened and what to do next. Seeing that the next game is the San Antonio Silver Stars but on the road.
