ONE DOWN, THREE ROAD GAMES COMING UP

by Lisl

Friday night the Lynx took their first “L” for the season. The young team appeared to take it pretty hard, but in the wake of last year’s tough season, S. Agustus says they won’t let it get them too down. This sentiment was echoed by teammate and Lynx standout rookie from last season, C. Wiggins. She felt confident the young club would bounce back and be right back in Sacramento’s face next game.

As Coach prepares to be inducted into the hall of fame today, and celebrate her birthday, she lamented the loss last night when meeting with the media. “Not what I was hoping for, not what I wanted.” She named missing defensive assignments as one of the big factors in the Lynx first loss of the season.

Overall, while the team mood seemed dejected after a loss in which many people observed, “Seattle made it look easy,” all players interviewed did seem ready to get back at the work of improving. Many players talked about the fact that they were all “doing their own thing,” “talking over each other,” and not quite gelling as a team yet, or still getting to know each other on the court. This did seem apparent as their defensive rotations left a lot to be desired and communication was sparse.

Coach did seem optimistic that the 3 practices before they head out on a tough road trip will be all important in correcting their errors as a team. This road trip promises to be pivotal as they will face Sacramento, Phoenix and finish it off with another meeting with Seattle at their place.
