The game last Sunday when the Lynx beat the Silver Stars 84-78, you could see Minnesota's season all summed up in the game.
Leading by double digits and watching it dwindle down to almost nothing. 18 times this year this has happened (according to Lynx radio vs Storm) with wins in about half of those games. But to their credit they have been down by double digits a lot this year too and won a couple of those games.
It comes down to the last 2 games for 2 playoff spots for 3 teams with 12-20 records. Keep in mind that IF any of these 3 teams win the league crown they can do it with a losing record.
For the Lynx going into Sunday's final game vs. the Fever, they will know sometime near tip-off how they stand with the Silver Stars game ending about that same time and the Sparks finishing their season on Saturday.
For the Lynx to make the playoffs the following would need to happen -
1 - Win both remaining games. By beating the Sparks the Lynx can get in by simply winning on Sunday vs. the Fever. Even if the Silver Stars win both of their remaining games, the Lynx would get in because the Sparks can not match Minnesota's win total.
2 - Beat the Sparks but lose to the Fever AND the Silver Stars lose both games OR beat the Sparks and the Sparks lose to the Storm.
3 - Lose to the Sparks, beat the Fever AND the Silver Stars lose both games OR lose to the Sparks, beat the Fever AND the Sparks beat the Storm AND the Silver Stars lose both games.
4 - Lose both games AND the Silver Stars lose both games.
So as you can see, it is very simple for the Lynx to get into the playoffs. They can control what happens to them or let the Silver Stars control what happens to them.
For the Lynx to not make the playoffs all 3 teams must go 1-1 in their last 2 games OR the Lynx go 0-2 AND the Silver Stars win at least 1 game.
