Seimone Augustus of the Lynx was one of eight players named to the USA Basketball women's national team today.

The eight will form the nucleus of the 2010 World Championships team and the 2012 Olympic team.

Augustus is sidelined after knee surgery and won't participate in the team's fall camp, but will attend. She won a gold medal with Team USA at the Beijing Olympics last summer.

"I'm truly honored to be a part of this extraordinary group of elite woman athletes," Augustus said in a release. "Competing on the world stage with USA Basketball is always special, and I'm grateful to be given the opportunity to once again represent my country in our quest for an unprecedented five-straight Olympic Gold medals. I am recovering well from my surgery, and can't wait to get back out on the court."
