Coquese’s Drive for the Women’s Resource Center Golf Tournament Raises More Than $13,000

Tourney sees 115 golfers raise a record amount for the Centre County Women’s Resource Center

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.; August 21, 2009 - One hundred and fifteen golfers hit the links at the Penn State Blue Course for the Second Annual Coquese’s Drive for the Women’s Resource Center, hosted by Lady Lion head coach Coquese Washington on Friday. The event was capped off with the presentation of a check for $13,241 from Washington to Centre County Women’s Resource Center (CCWRC) director Anne Ard.

The team of Marc Fetters, Joe Bergstrom, Tyler Hughes and Brian Short won first place gross posting an 18-under par 54, followed by the team of Mike Britt, Bruce Ellis, Kitt Stanton and Howie Lockett in second place with a score of 55. The team of Sue Cromwell, Karen Krupa, Lisa Mensinger and Jeanie Andrews won the women’s team prize with a 16-under par 56.

Big Ten Network analyst Vera Jones, one of the keynote speaker at the post-event dinner, announced that 50% of the net proceeds (approximately $4.50 per book) of the online sale of her new book “Play Through the Foul - Basketball Lessons for the Game of Life” will be donated to the Centre County Women’s Resource Center. The purchaser must put “(PSU)” in the name box of the form to indicate they would like proceeds donated to the CCWRC.

The Centre County Women's Resource Center provides services
for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence. Counselor/Advocates are available 24 hours a day. There is no cost involved and all services are private.

The CCWRC provided services for 1,500 people last year in Centre County.
