B2X say "6" is greater than 2

BY MIKE PEDEN

B2X continued their surprise role in Howard Pulley Pro City Summer League playoff action Thursday night at the St. Paul Salvation Army gym.

The league's 6th seed dressed only six players, but that was enough to defeat the 2nd-seeded A&A Millwork 104-85, meaning the Millwork are now one game away from playoff elimination.

Offensive production was the biggest factor in B2X's win. Three B2X players scored above 20 points. Minnesota recruit Rodney Williams led all players with 25 points. The Wofford duo of Jamar Diggs and Cameron Rundles put up 23 and 22 respectively.

Despite a bigger roster, J'Son Stamper was the only Millwork player to pass 20, scoring 21 for the night.

Williams said the 2-5 regular season record did little to discourage B2X. With two playoff wins to back him up, he said his team can take on anyone without much trouble.

"We really didn't give up on defense," he said. "I think we just finished the game today."

The game started with seven ties and five lead changes between the two teams, with B2X holding a one point lead at the end of the first quarter. B2X brought the lead to 10 early in the second before a late Millwork run cut the lead to three at halftime.

Will Graham tried to bring his team back, scoring back-to-back baskets to briefly give the Millwork the lead with 6:05 left in the third. Three lead changes and three ties later, B2X got on a mini-run to end the third with a seven point lead, never to lose it for the rest of the game.

The late run was fueled in part by 13 points from Diggs in the third, more than his total in the other three quarters combined.

In the latest edition of the Williams highlight watch, the Cooper graduate slammed an alley-oop facing away from the basket with 8:56 to play in the fourth. As with all his other highlights, the crowd cheered Williams' acrobatic skills.
