The Minnesota Lynx today announced that they have reached a buyout agreement with seven-year veteran Anna DeForge. The team today also waived 2009 third-round selection Emily Fox and Tye'sha Fluker, along with placing Kathrin Ress on the Suspended List due to Italian National Team obligations. With today's transactions, Minnesota is down to 11 players on its roster.
"We were faced with some extremely difficult decisions today," said Lynx Executive Vice President Roger Griffith. "If you look around the league, the amount of talent that is not making teams this year is hard to believe. That speaks volumes to the incredible level of athleticism, talent and abilities of the players that make up the 143 roster spots that the WNBA offers today. These are the premier female athletes and the best women's basketball players in the world. The level of play in the WNBA has never been better and we expect a tremendous 2009 WNBA season."
