U-M's Stephany Skrba Inks Professional Contract with Asptt Charleville-Mezieres of the French Professional League

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Former Michigan women’s basketball player Stephany Skrba (Toronto, Canada/Langstaff Secondary School) recently inked a professional contract with Asptt Charleville-Mezieres of the French Professional League. Skrba completed her collegiate career this spring and will join the team for training camp in August.

“I am so excited to begin my professional career in Charleville-Mezieres, France,” said Skrba. “Not only is it a great opportunity from a basketball perspective, but it will also provide me with an opportunity to utilize the French language skills I acquired at the University of Michigan. I am very grateful to the University of Michigan and all those that support me.”

“Stephany fits the profile of your typical overseas player,” said head coach Kevin Borseth. “She is tall and long, in addition to running the floor well and blocking shots. She is very versatile. It is certainly a great opportunity for her to extend her basketball career and we are very excited for her.”

Skrba finished her U-M career in impressive fashion. The senior saw action in all 30 games and made 23 starts during her senior campaign. She led the Wolverines in blocked shots per game, averaging 1.14 per game and posted two 20-point outings on the season, including 20 points in Michigan’s upset victory over Notre Dame (Dec. 10), where she was 10-of-11 from the floor. Skrba was named Big Ten Athlete of the Week for her efforts against Notre Dame and was named to the Southern Mississippi Lady Eagle Classic All-Tournament team, after averaging 17.5 points in U-M’s two games to lead the Wolverines to the Lady Eagle Championship. She currently ranks fifth all-time at Michigan in blocks (104), 13th in rebounds (528) and 34th in points (719). Her 118 career games places her sixth all-time in appearances for the Wolverines.

Skrba will join a host of Wolverines who have had success playing overseas, including Wolverine greats LeeAnn Bies, Catherine DiGiacinto and Ann Lemire.
