Sparks Select Wisdom-Hylton, Paris and Jordan in 2009 WNBA Draft

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Sparks selected Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton of Purdue University with the 13th pick in the first round of the 2009 WNBA Draft. In the second round, the team selected Ashley Paris from the University of Oklahoma with the 22nd pick and Britney Jordan from Texas A&M Commerce with the 35th pick in the third round.

Wisdom-Hylton averaged 13.3 points and 9.2 rebounds per game in a 2008-09 season that led to an Elite-Eight appearance. The 6'2" forward was named to the All-Big Ten first-team for the second time and the All-Defensive Big Ten team for the third time. She leaves Purdue as the team's all-time leader in rebounds and blocked shots, and second in career double-doubles with 25.

"I feel amazing. It feels so surreal today and I'm very excited," said Wisdom-Hylton. "I can't wait for the opportunity to play with the incredible talent already on the roster."

Paris averaged 12.5 points and 9.6 rebounds while helping lead her Sooners to a Final Four appearance. The 6'3" forward recorded 17 double-doubles on her way to first-team All-Big 12 honors in the 2008-09 season. She is the fourth player in Oklahoma history to score more than 1,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds in her career.
